Range of Services
C&B offers scientific solutions for ecosystem problems and to the challenges related to global environmental change. Our services include:
1 Development of feasibility studies for the implementation of forest projects and bioenergy under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
2 Formulation of project design document (PDD), necessary for the validation and registration of forest projects under the CDM.
3 Monitoring of ecosystem dynamics
4. Technical and economic assessment of ecosystem services
5. Monitoring and modeling of land cover change and associated impacts.
4 Design and implementation of sustainable forest systems: commercial plantations, agro-forest systems and pastoral-forestry, ecological restoration of degraded areas and models for assisted natural regeneration.
5 Characterization of structure and dynamics for natural forest ecosystems.
6 Stochastic simulations of ecosystemic processes at a landscape level and their incorporation to geographical information systems.
7 Analysis and statistical simulation of ecosystemic processes.
8 Training courses on subjects related to the interaction between terrestrial ecosystems and global environmental change and the formulation and implementation of forest-based carbon mitigation projects.
Experience
Since the beginning, in the year 2002, the Center has carried out seven feasibility studies for the implementation of Clean development Mechanism, in different regions in Colombia. Additionally, we have formulated two project design documents (PDD) for the implantation of afforestation-reforestation projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
Feasibility Studies
1. implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in conservation lands of the Government of Cundinamarca.
2. implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in the PROCUENCA project.
3. recovery of the Mata de la Urama Ecosystem in the Municipality of Tauramena, Casanare.
4. implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in strategic areas for the protection of water resources, belonging to Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá (Water supply company for the city of Bogotá).
5. Carbon mitigation project in the PROCUENCA project.
6. Identification of strategic areas for the application of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) on ecosystem restoration in the Andean biological corridors defined by Conservation International.
7. implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in the areas of influence of the Program of Peace Development (PRODEPAZ), in the southeast region of Antioquia.
Elaboration of project design documents (PDD) projects
1. Development of an outline of payment for environmental services by means of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) for the conservation of waters, soils, biodiversity and mitigation of the climate change in the basin of the Chinchiná River.
